New Update: Dresden-Elektronik deconz-rest-plugin Version 2.29.5

Dresden-Elektronik has just rolled out a fresh update for the deconz-rest-plugin. Version 2.29.5 brings a host of improvements, expanded device support, and crucial bug fixes. ConBee III owners will be pleased to find a new stable firmware release included.

Key Highlights

  • Brand-new stable firmware version 0x26550900 for ConBee III
  • Expanded support for a wide range of devices, including Philips Hue, Aqara, Tuya, and more
  • Critical bug fixes addressing various sensors and devices
  • Improved device integration and resource management
  • Breaking Change: Removal of config/temperature setting for several Xiaomi devices

ConBee III Firmware Update

This release ships with the new stable firmware version 0x26550900 for ConBee III. Additionally, there’s a fresh beta firmware, version 0x26540900, targeting pairing issues and lost device problems, alongside other enhancements.

Important Changes

Breaking Changes

One major change users need to be aware of is the removal of the config/temperature attribute for various Xiaomi devices. This decision was made because the attribute has been a source of confusion—it was often mistaken for ambient temperature, although it likely reflects the device’s chip temperature. For sensors that actually measure room temperature, the attribute state/temperature remains available.

New Device Support

The update adds broad new device support across several manufacturers. Here are some of the standout additions:

Philips Hue and Lighting

  • Philips Hue White & Color Ambiance bulbs
  • Philips Hue Play Lightbar (multiple versions)
  • Philips Hue Festavia (LCX015)
  • Osram LIGHTIFY Indoor Flex RGBW
  • Paulmann 501.34 fixtures
  • LEDVANCE lamps and smart plugs
  • Aqara T1M ceiling light (CL-L02D)
  • Various IKEA TRADFRI bulbs with updated intervals

Sensors and Switches

  • Aeotec (Samjin) water leak sensor
  • Fire Angel Zigbee module (P-LINE)
  • Aqara presence sensor FP1E
  • Bosch RADION TriTech ZB motion detector
  • Third Reality smart button and soil moisture sensor
  • Various Tuya temperature and humidity sensors
  • Heiman CO sensor-EM
  • Frient motion sensor 2 with pet immunity (MOSZB-153)
  • eWeLink SNZB-02P temperature and humidity sensor
  • Xiaomi LYWSD03MMC multisensor
  • Namron 4-button switch and 4-in-1 multisensor
  • Tuya radar and vibration sensors
  • NodOn temperature sensor STPH-4-1-00
  • B-parasite plant sensor

Smart Home Devices

  • Sonoff smart water valve and water leak sensor
  • Livarno shutter cover
  • IKEA TRETAKT smart plug (E2204)
  • Tuya smart plugs with energy monitoring
  • Shelly 1 Mini Gen4
  • Hive thermostatic radiator valve (TRV003)
  • Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 (DCM-K01)
  • Iluminize Multi 5 (4A)
  • Various Tuya thermostats
  • Schneider Wiser CCT5011-0002
  • NodOn Fil Pilote module SIN-4-FP-21

Improvements

Alongside the new device support, this update delivers plenty of functional enhancements:

  • Added special effects for Hue lights
  • Adjusted and expanded polling intervals for IKEA TRADFRI bulbs
  • DDF content now takes precedence over legacy sensor loading
  • Added and updated Develco and Ubisys-specific attributes in general.xml
  • Added a “Close” menu item in the DDF editor
  • GUI now only shows manufacturer-specific commands relevant to each node
  • Resource items added for device OTA firmware
  • Added Danfoss-specific commands
  • Added generic config/setvalve item
  • Reworked poll scheduler for legacy versus device code
  • Improved DDF support for button combos on the Illumra Dual Rocker Switch
  • Added cooling mode to Bosch Room Thermostat II

Bug Fixes

This update also tackles a slew of important bug fixes to boost stability and reliability:

  • Fixed missing battery status on various Tuya sensors
  • Corrected consumption readings for Aqara Dual Relay Module T2
  • Light resources now only display public entries
  • Fixed inaccurate manufacturer and model counts
  • Fixed ResourceItems not processing after loading additional DDFs
  • Corrected DDF JSON format issues
  • Resolved battery reporting problems on Tuya sensors
  • Fixed battery display for FireAngel Zigbee module
  • Fixed siren on the Frient smart smoke detector
  • Fixed “zombie entries” when deleting devices
  • Fixed issues loading DDF devices from the database
  • Blocked binding attribute queries after startup if timestamp is recent enough
  • Disabled ZCL Default Response APS ACKs by default

macOS Version & Home Assistant

This update also includes some tailored improvements for macOS users and the Home Assistant community:

  • First release with a dedicated Apple Silicon macOS version — previously, only the Intel version could run in emulation mode
  • The Home Assistant deCONZ add-on now uses the OpenBox window manager, fixing various usability problems with the previous DWM window manager

Conclusion

This new update for the deconz-rest-plugin brings major improvements and broadens device compatibility significantly. The new stable firmware for ConBee III and the many bug fixes alone make this release highly recommended. If you’re using deconz, be sure to update to take advantage of these enhancements.

However, keep in mind the breaking change regarding the removal of config/temperature for certain Xiaomi devices. If you have existing automations relying on this value, you might need to adjust them accordingly.

Adriana

I have been fascinated by everything to do with technology for many years, especially when it comes to making my own home smarter and more comfortable. For me, a smart home is not just a technical gimmick, but above all a real improvement in quality of life. It all started very small with a networked thermostat, but this little experiment quickly turned into a great passion. My home now comprises a sophisticated system of lighting control, heating automation and security solutions that make my everyday life noticeably easier. For me, a smart home is much more than just technology: it means convenience, sustainability and a real improvement in quality of life. It is particularly important to me that systems are intuitive to use and can be easily integrated into everyday life, regardless of brand or manufacturer. My vision is a home that not only reacts to commands, but also thinks and acts with foresight. I dream of a smart home that saves energy, adapts individually to residents and the environment and always puts people at the center.

Here on my blog, I share personal experiences, helpful tips and interesting insights on the topic of smart homes.
I'm particularly looking forward to exchanging ideas with you, whether you're just starting out with your smart home or are already a real pro.
